The origins of Rezium trace back to 2015, when the French concept artist Aurèle Pradal began sketching visions of a future universe shaped by exploration, scarcity, and shifting power. Influenced by classic strategy games like OGame and later Stellaris, and Elite Dangerous, Aurèle wasn’t driven by game mechanics alone, but by the characters and worlds that could surround them. His early pieces hinted at a fractured solar system, technological expansion, and the quiet desperation of humanity reaching into the unknown.
Over time, Aurèle's conceptual work led him into collaborations across different genres, including the mech battler game Supremacy. It was there that he worked closely with Australian creative director Matt McGinniss. The two shared a common interest in science fiction and narrative depth. Rather than rushing into production, Aurèle and Matt focused on building the internal logic and cohesion of a new universe, one where economic ambition, political tension, and personal survival all had a place in the 24th century, dominated by the flows and trade lines of the precious Rezium mineral.

By 2023, what began as visual exploration evolved into a dedicated world-building effort. Characters, alliances and planetary systems, were mapped out across notebooks, docs, and shared screens. As the team expanded, welcoming experienced concept artists Espen and Marc Alexander and the UIUX designer, Fabio, the tone of the world settled into place: somewhere between optimism and realism, idealism and decay. The reunion with a former community manager Steve from Supremacy added momentum, and with Lucian, Gabor and Arthur coming on board in 2025 the world of Rezium began to take clearer shape.
The mineral itself, Rezium, was imagined as both a source of energy and conflict. Found in deep fissures on remote moons, it represented not only material value but philosophical tension: should humanity use it to terraform and expand, or control and consolidate?

At the heart of the Rezium universe lies Mars, now a fractured political centre with its capital of Nova Ares. From there, the narrative arcs outward, to moons like Triton near Neptune and distant systems such as Kalin, where rival factions, ancient artifacts, and questions of sovereignty over land and Rezium begin to emerge.
Only later did the team begin shaping these elements into a game.
And while that part of the journey is still underway, the world is ready. The stories are in motion. And soon, others will be able to step inside.
